Hey, Medina County – What do you think are the top health issues for our community?
January 29, 2023, Medina, Ohio – The local health collaborative, Living Well Medina County (LWMC), is again conducting a community health assessment and improvement plan for Medina County. LWMC has been doing data analysis and community engagement since 2010. As part of this process, we want to hear from you!
We have already reviewed secondary data collected from a variety of local, county, and state sources. Data consisted of community demographics, social determinants of health, health care access, birth indicators, leading causes of death, chronic disease, health behaviors, mental health, substance use and misuse and preventive practices. Where available, these data are presented in the context of Medina County and Ohio, framing the scope of an issue as it relates to the broader community. “If we have secondary data, you may wonder why we are asking for community input with a survey,” said Krista Wasowski, Medina County Health Commissioner. “Behind every piece of data are people – our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Understanding not just what the data says, but how that impacts each resident’s daily life is critical to develop programs to meet your immediate needs. We want to prioritize the health issues that are most important to community members and we need this survey to do that.”
It is easy to participate – the survey only takes about 15 minutes, is anonymous, and any question can be skipped if you don’t want to answer it. Online surveys can be found by going to https://medinahealth.org/ or look at the health department’s social media pages for a QR code. You may also call 330-7223-9688, option 2 if you would like a paper copy to complete.
